The Sobey School of Business Commerce Society is a student run society at Saint Mary’s University whose goal is to provide students with networking opportunities, as well as business and university resources, while helping to inspire peer to peer engagement. Our 2020/2021 team is comprised of undergraduate students pursuing a commerce degree at the Sobey School of Business.


Sarah is a fourth-year student majoring in Finance. She was born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and has previously completed a Biology degree from Dalhousie University. Having been a transfer student, Sarah jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the Commerce Society so she could become more involved within the community. As President during these unfamiliar times, she hopes to be able to keep students connected and engaged within the Sobey School of Business, and Saint Mary’s University communities.

Victoria is a 4th year student pursuing a double major in Human Resource Management and Marketing. She grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. Victoria enjoys being involved on campus. She has been a member of the Commerce Society the last three years, a Pack Leader for two years as well as a participant in intramurals. Although some of the classic on campus events may not be happening this fall, she looks forward to working with the team to create new ways for our students to stay connected during their time as Saint Mary’s students. Yousef Farahat is a third year Bachelor of Commerce Student seeking a double major in Computing & Information Systems and Management. He has a diverse background in possible career paths on different parts of the Earth as he has lived on three different continents. He has explored various industries through filling diversified roles during his gap year. Yousef is the Professional Development Director at the Sobey School of Business Commerce Society and also a Mathematics Tutor at the Math Help Centre of the Sobey School of Business. Liam Walsh is a 4th year accounting co-op student at the Sobey School of Business. Originally from Truro Nova Scotia, Liam has been committed to the society since his first year and is excited to adapt the society's operations to be fully virtual. He has held co-op positions at PriceWaterhouse Coopers LLC and Nova Scotia Power in the accounting field and is an aspiring CPA candidate. He will be serving as the Finance Director for the society in charge of reporting and analyzing finances on behalf of society members. Chelsea Greenham is a second-year student who is completing a double major in Accounting and Human Resource
Management. She was born and raised in Ming’s Bight, Newfoundland, and Labrador. She has ambitions of becoming a lawyer and loves to engage on Campus. Chelsea is excited to hold the position as Communications Director with the Commerce Society, where she will be sending the weekly newsletter and monitoring the email account. As well she is a Senior Peer Academic Leader with the Math Help Centre of the Sobey School of Business. 


Morgan Baker-Tucker is a third year Commerce student at Saint Mary's, majoring in Entrepreneurship with a minor in Psychology. Morgan, originally from St. John's, Newfoundland, moved to Halifax at age 16 with hopes to eventually attend university in Nova Scotia. Morgan has been involved with intramurals on campus, and is also a T.A. for Intro to Business Management. She was excited to pursue the opportunity to be the Social Media Director for the Commerce Society here at SMU as it not only gives her an opportunity to showcase her skills, but also it will allow her to be more connected with the community at Saint Mary's.


Manav Khera is a 3rd year student majoring in Global Business Management. Originally from India, Manav moved to Halifax at the age of 18 hoping to have an amazing experience in one of the best business schools in Canada. Manav has been involved with SMU Tennis and reached the nationals while also being engaged with different societies, having a vast experience in leadership positions. He looks forward to have a great time as one of the IT Directors while implementing his creativity and marketing skills. Robert Afari is a 2021 Master of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MTEI) Candidate at the Sobey School of Business. Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Robert comes with over 4 years of experience in digital marketing and web design, being the co-founder of a digital marketing start-up back home in Ghana. He is a team player who has won at least two awards with two different teams in different 'Innovation Challenges' in Halifax between 2019 and 2020.
