Sarah Cameron

President

Sarah Cameron is a fifth year commerce student from Sydney, Nova Scotia. She is pursuing a major in Global Business Management, a minor in French and a Certificate in Human Resource Management. This past summer, Sarah completed a summer term through FSWEP (Federal Student Work Experience Program) as an HR Intern at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Previously, she has also worked offshore for Marine Atlantic. She enjoys any volunteer work because giving back to the community is one of her passions. Sarah wishes to pursue a role in Human Resources with the government after graduation. As president, Sarah’s goal is to ensure growth of the Commerce Society across campus and nationwide through a recent partnership with CABS (Canadian Association of Business Students). Will Robbins

Vice President, External

Will is a fourth year B.Comm. student majoring in Economics with Honours from Halifax. As VP External, Will is responsible for the management of relations between the Society and local business organizations as well as securing sponsorship for the annual business dinner. Will is very active within the Sobey community, having worked as a Research Associate for the student-run investment fund, IMPACT, as well as co-founding the Enactus project Stock Up which taught financial literacy and the basics of investing to students of all years. He has spent his two previous summers at ScotiaBank in their Dealer Finance Centre where he was responsible for due-diligence processes and the funding of loan applications. Upon graduation, Will plans to pursue his JD while focusing on international trade and investment law in emerging markets. Connect with Will on LinkedIn

Samantha Kieffer

Vice President, Internal

Samantha Kieffer is in her fourth year of studies at the Sobey School of Business pursuing a BComm in Global Business Management and a BA in Political Science. She is passionate about getting involved and is aware the impact that a school’s community can have on its students. As such, she has been actively involved as a Residence Assistant, as a volunteer at the Saint Mary’s Women’s Centre, and also as a volunteer for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Samantha hopes to actively engage the entire Commerce Society, and by extension, the Sobey School, in developing their connections and enhancing skills needed to succeed in the business world. Connect with Samantha on LinkedIn

Callie Franson

Communications Director

Callie is a second year Bachelor of Commerce student. Callie has lived in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for her entire life and has always been eager to be involved whether it is at school, at work, or within the community. She has a passion for politics and has volunteered for numerous campaigns over the past couple years, and had the opportunity to work as a Summer Student this past summer for Member of Parliament Darrell Samson. Drew McCarthy

Public Relations Director

Drew McCarthy is a 3rd year Co-op student majoring in Marketing. He is the Public Relations Director at the Sobey School of Business Commerce Society, and the Treasurer of the SMU Political Science Society. He is excited to recruit first year students to join the Commerce Society, so they can begin to experience the full value of a Commerce Degree at the Sobey School of Business. He wants everyone to be involved in not only increasing their academic knowledge, but also improving their professional networking skills, collaborating with their peers, and giving back to the community. Ki-Jana Bowers

Financial Director

Ki-Jana Rashaan Bowers, 22, is a third year Accounting and Economics major. He was born and raised in Antigua and is a a graduate of the Antigua State College. Friendly by nature paired with his genuine care for people and being a good communicator, Ki-Jana positively impacts all he comes into contact with. Although not one for the spotlight, Mr. Bowers is a hard and efficient worker, qualities which served him well in his role as President of the Interact Club of the Antigua State College, and will aid him substantially in his role as Financial Director of the Sobey School of Business Commerce Society. Connect with Ki-Jana on LinkedIn

Nancy S. Gomes

Director, International Student Engagement (ISE)

Nancy S. Gomes is a 3rd year HR Management Major. She is a social entrepreneurship enthusiast and has been involved in organizations & societies such as Enactus and CEED that support the cause. As an international student, she tries to help others overcome barriers that she faced in the past through working as a Student Ambassador at the Center for New Students and referring people to the right resources on campus. Spencer Wiechert

IT Director

Spencer Wiechert is a fourth year commerce student-athlete pursing a double major in Accounting and Marketing. Spencer was born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where he devoted much of his time to sports and music. He played on the Varsity Football team for three years, and has a passion for video production and graphic design. As the IT director for the Commerce Society, his background in creative design will ensure the production of effective posters and other marketing material in a timely fashion.
